FINALIST IN WYNNE PRIZE, ART GALLERY of NEW SOUTH WALES

Benalla Art Gallery exhibition
Argy Bargy The Art of Dean Bowen was recently held at the Benalla Art Gallery from 29 November to the 18 January 2010. The exhibition featured paintings, sculpture and prints created between 1993 and 2009 providing a survey of the artist's career. The exhibition was launched by artist Ivan Durrant, with words by Simon Klose, Director.

Dean Bowen's book "Argy Bargy" has been recently launched and is now available in selected bookshops. Retail price is $110 AUD
The monograph includes 228 pages and is richly illustrated with over 250 colour and black and white images. It features a major essay by Art Historian and Curator Sheridan Palmer. The dimensions of the book are 32 x 31 x 2.3 cm.

Melbourne Exhibition and Book Launch
Dean Bowen's solo exhibition "Transmetropole" opens at Axia Modern Art, 6:30pm, 12th May and continues until the 7th June 2009. The exhibition of recent paintings, sculpture and prints will be opened by Michael Leunig. During the opening of the exhibition, Dean Bowen's monograph "Argy Bargy" will be launched. The monograph will document the artist's work over a twenty year period and will be published by Macmillan Art Publishing. The monograph will include 228 pages and be richly illustrated with more than 250 colour and black and white images. It will feature a major essay by leading Art Historian and Curator Sheridan Palmer, extensive biographical details and will provide a comprehensive overview of the artist's career as a visual artist featuring paintings, sculpture, prints, tapestry and animation.

Dean Bowen commissioned to create Centennial Sculpture for Canterbury Primary School, 2008
In 2008, Dean Bowen was commissioned by Canterbury Primary School, Melbourne to create the School's Centennial Sculpture, commemorating the school's centenary in 2008. This significant sculpture celebrates childhood and is sited at the front of the school beneath the Talbot Oak, otherwise known as the Friendship tree. The sculpture was unveiled by Lady Southey AC on the 23rd of October 2008 to mark the final celebration of Cantebury Primary School's past 100 years.

MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, SHIGA, JAPAN
The work of Dean Bowen was curated into a major group exhibition 'Beauty of Heavenly Bodies and the Universe' at the Museum of Modern Art, Shiga, Japan held late in 2007. This significant exhibition included the works of Max Ernst, Jean Arp, Joan Miro and Japanese artists such as Akira Kurosaki.

ANIMATION PROJECT, JAPAN
Dean Bowen is developing a major animation project in collaboration with Galerie Miyawaki, Kyoto, Japan and Japanese animator Ayumi Sasaki and anticipated completion is mid 2009. A short section of the animation series 'Illumination' was launched at Galerie Miyawaki in June 2007 to coincide with his solo exhibition of watercolour paintings. The animation project has been in progress now for three years and anticipate completion in 2009.

Sculpture Commission - Shepparton Showgrounds. Greater Shepparton City Council, 2007
Dean Bowen was commissioned by the Greater Shepparton City Council to create a large scale bronze sculpture titled 'The Farmer' for the redeveloped Shepparton Showgrounds site. The sculpture was installed in April 2007. The commission was generously sponsored by SPC Ardmona.

Contemplative Journey
Dean Bowen's painting titled "Contemplative Journey" was selected for inclusion in "Renascence" "Hyogo International Competition of Painting", the 10th Anniversary of Post-Earthquake Restoration, Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, Kobe, Japan.
The exhibition commenced January 17, 2005 and continues through to February 20, 2005. The exhibition includes 101 works selected as finalists from approximately 8000 entries from 81 countries. The judging panel included Ichiro Hariu, President of AICA, Japan, Shigenobu Kimura, Director of Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, William S.
